I am always looking for something new. New places to take the kids, new baby boutiques, new designers of kids clothing, new music to listen to. If I didn’t, I’d probably go nuts. Since having my kids, I wandered into the world of kids fashion. I am constantly amazed by the new products out there, and I admit it. I am a sucker for original styles that match my kids personalities. A few nights ago, Ruby’s Garden, a boutique in Oakland hosted a mommy’s night out. They have events like this throughout the year, and it’s a wonderful chance to sneak out and check out new local styles.
Greeted by the owners, Mae and Mary, and a refreshing Mimosa, I finally had the time to check out the goods hidden in this store. I’d been there before with the kids, and they have a great area for your kids to play as you shop. They focus on showcasing lines of local designers and entrepreneur moms.
Abe Jones, is an amazing line of clothing I found here. Designed and made in Oakland, CA, the styles are hip and fresh, and something new. I grabbed the last, long sleeved T-Shirt with a Deejay spinning on the front for Avi. I met the designer of Abe Jones yesterday at the Lakeshore Street Fair, a very cool woman with a great eye.
